Shanghai, April 28 — Porsche has taken the wraps off the 911 Spirit 70 at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, a special-edition model designed as an homage to the 1970s and early 1980s era. Limited to just 1,500 units, the 911 Spirit 70 is part of Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy, blending vintage styling with cutting-edge technology.
The convertible’s nostalgic touches and exclusive finishes celebrate a golden chapter of Porsche’s history while integrating the latest in hybrid performance.
Powertrain: Marrying Heritage with InnovationUnder the hood, the 911 Spirit 70 is based on the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet platform but introduces Porsche’s new performance hybrid setup. It features a 3.6-litre boxer engine, an integrated eTurbo, an electric motor within the PDK transmission, and a high-voltage system. Together, the powertrain generates 534 bhp and 610 Nm of torque, delivering modern performance in a retro-styled package.
The Spirit 70 marks a major step forward in Porsche’s hybrid technology, even as it pays visual homage to decades past.
Design: Olive Neo Paintwork and Period-Correct DetailsVisually, the 911 Spirit 70 stands out with its exclusive Olive Neo paintwork—a dark green hue developed specifically for this edition. Accents in Bronzite, a grey-gold metallic tone, are featured on the front, rear, and the classic ‘Fuchs’-inspired Sport Classic wheels.
The model also features a black soft top and a matching black windscreen frame, while the rear is adorned with gold metallic Porsche and 911 Spirit 70 badging. Three black silk-gloss stripes run along the bonnet and roof, a nod to 1970s-era safety markings used on sports cars for greater visibility.
Side graphics feature Porsche lettering and a black roundel that can be customized with an individual number, referencing Porsche’s racing legacy. The Porsche crest on the bonnet mirrors the 1963 original, accompanied by period-inspired gold badges and a Heritage badge on the rear grille.
Interior: Classic Pasha Pattern Meets Modern LuxuryInside, the 911 Spirit 70 continues its retro theme with black and Olive Neo Pasha fabric—a distinctive checkerboard pattern popular in late 1970s and early 1980s Porsche models. The pattern appears on seat centres, door panels, the glovebox, and a reversible boot mat, with an optional package extending it to the dashboard and seat backs.
Basalt black club leather, stitched in Olive Neo, complements the cabin. Instrumentation furthers the vintage feel, with green digits, white pointers, and a retro-styled rev counter displayed on the 12.65-inch screen. The Sport Chrono stopwatch is similarly styled to match the period theme.
The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 brings together past and future, blending nostalgic design cues with groundbreaking performance enhancements, making it a collector’s dream.
