NEW DELHI: Shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke with his US counterpart and secretary of state Marco Rubio , the Indian Embassy in Washington confirmed.
"India's actions have been focused and precise. They were measured, responsible and designed to be non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted. Shortly after the strikes, NSA Ajit Doval spoke with the US NSA and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and briefed him on the actions taken," the embassy said in a statement.
Earlier to this, reacting to the military action , US President Donald Trump said he had just been informed about it as he entered the Oval Office.
"It's a shame. We just heard about it as we were walking in the doors of the Oval. Just heard about it," he told reporters, adding that he hoped the situation would de-escalate quickly.
The strikes by India were carried out in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in Anantnag district on April 22, where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists .
