NEW DELHI: On the eve of PM Modi's birthday, Congress on Tuesday said schoolchildren are being forced to "glorify" one person through govt diktats and demanded an "end to shameless misuse of power".
Referring to news reports that BJP-governed Odisha govt has asked schools to join the campaign to celebrate the PM's birthday on Sept 17 and that a similar circular has been issued by a Delhi school, Congress MP Manickam Tagore alleged that Modi became the PM through "vote chori" and his govt is now using children and schools for propaganda.
"Education is meant for learning. Using children as pawns to polish the image of Modi is not just wrong, it's dangerous. This is how dictatorships operate," he claimed.
