Elon Musk ’s AI company, xAI , has unveiled a new update to its Grok chatbot , enabling it to “see” the world around it. This new feature allows the chatbot to process and interpret visual inputs, marking a significant leap in AI-human interaction .

“Introducing Grok Vision, multilingual audio, and realtime search in Voice Mode. Available now,” said the company.

How Grok’s vision works
The enhanced Grok chatbot uses advanced computer vision technology to analyse images and videos, providing context-aware responses. For instance, users can upload a photo of a product, and Grok can identify it, suggest uses, or even recommend similar items. This capability bridges the gap between text-based AI and real-world applications, making Grok more versatile and intuitive.

Applications across industries
The vision feature opens up possibilities in e-commerce, education, and healthcare, where visual understanding can enhance user experiences. From diagnosing medical conditions through image analysis to assisting with design projects, Grok’s new ability is expected to revolutionise how AI integrates into daily life.

With this update, xAI positions itself as a strong competitor in the AI space, challenging established players like OpenAI and Google.

Grok recently got ChatGPT-like memoray feature
xAI, recenlty rolled out a memory feature for its chatbot, Grok, allowing it to remember details from past conversations and provide more personalised responses. The update brings Grok closer to competitors like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, which have long offered similar capabilities.

The new feature enables Grok to retain user preferences, making recommendations and responses more tailored over time. Users can view exactly what Grok remembers and choose to delete specific memories through the chatbot’s interface. The feature is currently available in beta on Grok.com and the Grok iOS and Android apps, but is not yet accessible in the EU or UK.
