“Just here to play some baseball”: Kyle Tucker reacts amid contract uncertainty with Chicago Cubs

For the Chicago Cubs , it is a difficult spot, as their outfielder Kyle Tucker couldn’t come on board during the winter, however, now, they are stuck in a situation and are worried because Tucker could become a free agent next year.

Kyle Tucker says he will see how everything goes
The conversation regarding Kyle Tucker’s future with the Chicago Cubs has become a big deal, and now, until Tucker signs a new contract, it will keep the team in doubt. Recently, the Blue Jays gave Vladimir Guerrero Jr. a massive 14-year, $500 million deal. Tucker could possibly leverage his situation with his team, to look for a similar opportunity.


Regarding Guerrero’s recent contract, Kyle Tucker said:



“It’s what he wanted to do, I’m sure he loves playing in Toronto and everything, so that’s great for him. But everyone’s a little different. Right now, I’m here to play this year and play for the Cubs.”


As for Tucker, who said that he will “see where everything goes."

Regarding questions surrounding his contract, and the deadlines he could possibly have for himself, Tucker just shrugged, as he claimed to have no clear answer and that he’s “just here to play baseball.”

Chicago Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell weighs long term options
Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs’ manager, Craig Counsell claims he wishes to see Kyle Tucker in the spring training next year. He said:


“I hope when we go to Spring Training with Kyle next year, that he’s not going to have to play [Spring Training games], it’s been fun watching Kyle at the peak of who he is as an offensive player.”



When asked whether Tucker will be present for Spring Training session next year, Counsell said:

“Yeah, I shouldn’t have said that.”

Kyle Tucker is off to a good start in Chicago, while batting at .327 with five homers and National League-leading 16 RBIs after going 2 for 5 and driving in a run against the Texas Rangers.
