What would Prince William be if he weren't a royal? You would be surprised

If the whole future-king gig ever falls through, Prince William may have found his calling elsewhere — as a sports pundit.

On April 9, the Prince of Wales brought his eldest son, Prince George, along for a father-son outing in Paris to watch their favorite soccer team, Aston Villa , face off against Paris Saint-Germain in an away match. William has long been an avid supporter of Aston Villa and currently serves as president of the Football Association in the U.K.

Before the match, William joined TNT Sports analysts Rio Ferdinand and Ally McCoist for an in-depth chat about the game. His detailed knowledge of football — from player stats to historical match-ups — left a strong impression on the hosts. During the exchange, Ferdinand remarked, “Do not go for a pundit’s job, please, because I could be out of the game!” He added, “The way he just dissected that down, I’m going to nick that for later on.”
A video of the conversation, posted by Ferdinand on X (formerly Twitter), sparked praise from viewers, many of whom applauded William’s analysis and his deep understanding of the sport.

One user penned down, “Great analysis from Prince William, he would make a great pundit. He needs to go on a football podcast.” Another said, “Props to Prince William—his analysis is sharper than all the ESPNFC pundits combined! Someone send him over to take their jobs already. Sorry, but PSG is still going to beat Aston Villa!”

Not just his sports analysis , William’s rare outing with his son George also went viral. The two were seen in high spirits and enjoyed the game with full enthusiasm. Talking about having George here at the game, William talked about the importance of such moments in a child’s life. He said, “'I have got my son here too so I am on best behaviour but 43 years since this has happened and I want George to experience a night out in a big competition, those memories are really important to create and bringing him away is important.”

That’s not the only career Prince William has ever shown interest in. According to Diana: Her True Story, Andrew Morton’s 1992 biography of Princess Diana — a book in which the late Princess was deeply involved — a young William once revealed a touching ambition: “When I grow up, I want to be a policeman and look after you, Mummy.” The sweet remark likely stemmed from his awareness of the relentless media scrutiny his mother endured.

But his younger brother Harry was quick to bring him back to reality. As Morton recounts, “Quick as a flash, Harry replied, with a note of triumph in his voice, ‘Oh no, you can’t. You’ve got to be King.’”
