Woman killed over dowry in Kendrapada, 2 detained

Kendrapada: A 28-year-old man, Deepak Das, was detained on Sunday for allegedly strangling his nine-month pregnant wife, Kalpana Parida (26), to death with the help of his uncle, Ajay Das (45), on Friday in Kendrapada district. Jayaram Parida, the deceased's father, filed an FIR on Saturday, alleging that she had been tortured by her husband over dowry demands since their marriage and was ultimately strangled by the accused. Police have launched an investigation and registered a case against the accused under various sections of the BNS and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
