UK storm forecast with 550-mile wall of rain - full list of 11 counties not hit

Britain looks set to get soaked by a 550-mile wall of rain, with downpours possible across much of the country. A new from WXCharts suggests that expected warm weather will likely be interrupted by a rain bomb at midday on May 24. It indicates rainfall from the most southerly point of the mainland - Lizard Point in - to as far north as Aberdeenshire. All counties in Wales and large parts of England and Scotland could see rain. The rain is likely to be less than 1mm per hour in most parts but some cities - including Newcastle and - could see wetter conditions.

Berwickshire could see the heaviest rain, up up to 4mm per hour.

The weather map shows that looks set to be mostly dry, with much of England's south and south-east on course to stay rain-free.

Much of will likely be dry but all six counties could see some light showers.

The rain could come amid some warm conditions with above average temperatures expected to continue.

The 's long-range forecast for between May 21 - May 30 says: "A generally dry and fine end to the working week with light winds and warm sunshine continuing across the United Kingdom. A few showers are possible, but the majority of places will be dry.

"Temperatures during this time are likely to continue to be above normal for the time of year. Into the bank holiday weekend and following week, a change in weather type is expected. More unsettled conditions are likely to develop, with weather systems moving in from the Atlantic.

"This will bring spells of rain to many areas, perhaps heavy at times, with a risk of strong winds in places. Drier and brighter intervals are likely between systems. Temperatures will probably be near normal or slightly above."
