But royal fans have accused the Duchess of 'copying' her sister-in-law the Princess of Wales, who releases a new portrait of her children to mark their birthdays. This is a tradition William and Kate have upheld for years.

One person wrote on X: "Thinking that she is taking them because Princess Kate does. Only difference is that the Princess of Wales takes way better photos and doesn't hide who her children are. Fact is her children are way more high profile than Meghan and Harry's!" Another said: "Does Meghan have no original ideas?" While a third said: "I wonder who's idea it was to release pictures to mark a royal child's birthday..."

Someone else said, "Right after the other royal children were pictured standing on a balcony," in reference to the recent appearance of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Monday.
