Prince Harry causes 'further chill' in rift with Prince William after clash

Prince Harry has caused a "further chill" in the "already tense" relationship he has with his brother Prince William after making a major announcement yesterday, a royal expert has said. On Monday, the Duke of Sussex announced he was to visit Toronto in days, with the announcement coming at the same time William, 43, landed in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize.

It was also announced that Harry's Toronto visit will have various engagements that will clash with some of William's engagements in Rio De Janeiro. While Harry's team have claimed the announcement had to be at this time as a result of security concerns, it has caused some surprise, especially as it is believed Harry's team had spoken to the Palace previously this year about avoiding clashes in announcements.

While William has not addressed his estranged brother's latest announcement, one royal expert believes it will cause "further chill" in their relationship.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: "It has just been announced that Harry will be in Toronto carrying out engagements linked to Remembrance Sunday and the Halo Trust which will clash with the 2025 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, William's top charitable event of the year .

"The excuse given for the late announcement is security, his (Harry's) team complains he has not got the same security as other royals. What he clearly is using here is the opportunity to do two things - make his point on security and also the optics will be that he has deliberately arranged a clash with his brother, whatever the truth of it.

"What makes this so unexpected is that Harry offered to share his diary to avoid clashes in July. However, if his team claims it was planned for a year, this might still have happened.

"The result will be a further chill in the already tense relations between the brothers."

While Harry seems to have gone some way to repairing the relationship with his father King Charles this year, with the pair reuniting in September, the same cannot be said for Harry's relationship with William.

It is believed the brothers are not on speaking terms, with this not set to change anytime soon.

Prince William is set to carry out day two of his engagements in Brazil today.
