is determined not to let critics dictate his approach to captaining Manchester United, despite divisive opinions on his leadership style at Old Trafford. Notably, ex-United icons like Roy Keane and Paul Scholes have not held back with critical views of the 30-year-old's performances.
Fernandes stands on the brink of lifting his third trophy as the Red Devils' captain if they can triumph over Tottenham in the Europa League final and team-mate Diogo Dalot backs his compatriot's unique style - and says his fellow Portugal international does not listen to the detractors. Dalot said: "Bruno has been showing all his career the leader that he is, especially on the pitch.
"Even outside the pitch, he always tries to lead by example. I think this is the type of example we should always follow because the club needs more players like him.
"I think Bruno always tries to be the best version of himself. I don't think it is necessarily because of what people said about him.
"I just know that he is a big personality, so he knows what advice to take and what advice not to take. He is an experienced player, so I think he is big enough to understand what is best for him or not."
Dalot added: "Everybody at United is pleased to have him. He tries to make everyone feel comfortable around the club, especially the new signings and I think everyone likes to be around him because he is so special.
"You can spend time with him, you can ask for help, he can help you in every aspect that you need - and that is what a great leader does."
