Academy Award-nominated star Adam Driver has signed up for a new series for Netflix, playing an escaped convict who finds himself in a volatile hostage situation.

With nowhere to go but deeper into trouble, his character will have to make some life-changing decisions.

The series is titled Rabbit, Rabbit, and it will be directed by Emmy Award winner Philip Barantini, known for his work on Adolescence.

The synopsis reads: "When an escaped convict is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, he takes hostages in an effort to bargain for his freedom.

"But the standoff soon escalates into an unmanageable social experiment with his captives - and an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI Crisis Negotiator trained in tactical empathy."

He gained wider recognition for his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Outside of acting, he is a US Marine Corps veteran and founder of Arts in the Armed Forces.
