Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in a cleanliness drive under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign in Master Canteen area of Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday.
Senior BJP leaders, including Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal and state BJP in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, also joined the campaign by picking up brooms and dustpans to clean the streets along with party workers and volunteers.
Speaking to reporters at the site, the Chief Minister described the day a moment of ‘national pride’ and recalled PM Modi’s previous visit to the state.
“Last year on this day, Prime Minister Modi celebrated his birthday in Odisha by eating ‘Kheer’ made by a woman from Sabar Sahi in Gadakana. That day was also when the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ was launched,” Majhi said.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to the health and well-being of women and families, the CM linked the day’s cleanliness initiative to broader social welfare goals.
“This campaign reflects the government’s vision to ensure clean surroundings, women’s health, and family safety. On PM Modi’s birthday, we are not only celebrating his leadership but also reaffirming our commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission,” said Majhi.
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, launched in the run-up to Gandhi Jayanti, is part of the nationwide effort to promote cleanliness and community responsibility. Party workers and volunteers were seen enthusiastically cleaning public spaces and urging passersby to maintain hygiene.
