Urgent food recall issued for popular family ready meal stocked at Tesco and Morrisons

A popular food item has triggered a recall alert due to an unexpected ingredient – seafood.

The affected product is the tasty La Famiglia Rana Slow-Cooked Braised Beef Lasagne.

These may contain sneaky prawns and lobster not listed on the label.

The Food Standards Agency has thrown up red flags over this as "a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans".

Shoppers who snagged the dish and have a crustacean allergy have been urged by the agency:

"If you have bought the product and have an allergy to crustaceans, do not eat it.

"Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund (even without a receipt)."

The recall specifically hits 700g packs distributed by Giovanni Rana (UK) Ltd.

The ready meals are available at big retailers like and , distinguished by the batch code L0B510816.

These are marked with a use-by date of June 17, 2025, as per reports from Wales Online, reports .

Allergy UK points out, in shellfish allergy insights, that fish and shellfish rank among the 14 allergens under the Food Standards Agency's supervision.

Crustacean allergies spark off negative immune reactions to proteins found in these sea dwellers, further reported by Wales Online.

While some folks with this allergy might react to all shellfish types, others might only be sensitive to certain ones.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction can encompass a rash or hives, feeling light-headed, swelling of the mouth, tongue, face or other parts of the body, difficulty in breathing and stomach discomfort.

A more severe reaction, known as anaphylaxis, can result in throat swelling, shock, a rapid heartbeat and loss of consciousness.
