Three people have been killed and three others have been injured after two boats collided at a fishing event.
The fatal boat incident occurred in during a Major League tournament on the morning of Wednesday, April 16 at around 7am. The incident, which Major League Fishing (MLF) confirmed was a “serious boating accident,” involved multiple boats on Lewis Smith Lake during the second day of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational.

In the most recent statement posted on the page Kathy Fennel, MLF Executive Vice President and General Manager said: "Following this morning’s tragic boating accident, Major League Fishing has announced the cancellation of the final day of competition at Invitational Stop 3 scheduled for Thursday on Lewis Smith Lake. This is a heartbreaking moment for our entire organization. Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy.”
The fishing tournament, which was supposed to run through Thursday, has been canceled. Cullman County EMA confirmed the crash in the lake occurred around 7am near Miller Bottom, CBS 42 reported. There has been no word regarding the number of injuries, or worse, of anyone else involved. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is now investigating the crash.
