Eerie new footage is set to be released of and married couple, Fred and, infamous for their chilling crimes.
The sick couple, who were responsible for the murders of at least 12 young women, including their own daughter, Heather, became one of the most feared and reviled pairs in British criminal history. This new footage offers a rare, unsettling glimpse into the lives of these killers, whose brutal actions shocked the nation.
Fred was previously married to Catherine 'Rena' Bernadette Costello, but went on to marry Rosemary in January 1972. The couple committed murders between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire, luring vulnerable victims to their home, before they carried out sickening acts of violence. They raped, tortured, and mutilated their victims with their dismembered bodies typically buried in the cellar or garden of their home, known as the "House of Horrors."
In a new documentary titled Fred and Rose: The West Murders, set to be released on in May, the lives of the evil duo are revealed using home movies and police tapes, including how officers used Fred West's fear of ghosts to discover where bodies were buried.
It has been revealed that the documentary will air for the first time previously unseen police video and unheard audio recordings. The show will hear from the families impacted by the couple's killing spree and explain how Gloucestershire Constabulary uncovered their sickening crimes.
The three-part series will open with Fred being probed by police after the disappearance of Rose's daughter Heather, 16, according to Her body is later discovered at their Gloucestershire home along with nine sets of bones. Rena, who was the mother of two of Fred's children (Charmaine and Anna Marie), was also among their victims who disappeared in 1971. Her remains were later discovered buried at Fred’s previous home. It’s believed Fred killed her after she returned to try to reclaim her daughters.
The couple were arrested and charged in 1994. After being convicted of murdering 10 young girls and women, including her own daughter Heather and stepdaughter Charmaine, aged eight, Rose West is now serving a life sentence. Fred West, however, never stood trial, as he took his own life in prison in January 1995.
With a trailer released on April 16, fans have already been reacting to the gripping new scenes. In the comments section one user wrote: "Finally, there really haven’t been enough documentaries about it, British killers are never talked about here, so it’ll be chilling as all hell."
Another echoed the sentiment, writing: "I cannot wait for this. It’s one of the most fascinating as far criminal psychology goes. I’ve read a book by her daughter explaining their upbringing and all this stuff, super well written. I’m sure this will be absolutely heartbreaking but fascinating nonetheless."
A third person wrote: "I've seen the doc about Rose, only. I don't think a crime documentary has scared me so much. A lot of people don't seem to know about these two, at least outside the UK. It's terrifying."
