WATCH: 3 Arrested After Sword-Wielding Mob Attacks BJP Leader Mahadik's Office In Ambernath; CCTV Reveals Attempt To Kill

Thane: In connection with a group of two dozen assailants armed with swords who allegedly attacked the BJP office of a former corporator in Ambernath, three assailants were arrested on Monday.

Three accused have been identified: Karan Navi Khichchi, 20, Kaif Mohammed Ali Shaikh, 20, and Soeb Asif Shaikh, 19. They are all residents of Ambernath.

Three teams were set up to nab the remaining accused in the matter. The incident occurred around 11 PM on B Cabin Road. Mahadik was not present at the time, but office-bearer Krishna Gupta and another individual were inside during the attack.

Shailesh Kale, Assistant Commissioner of Police from Ambernath Division, said, "Based on technical intelligence and local informants, we detained three suspected individuals and took them to the police station for inquiry. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that they were involved in the crime. The accused were produced in court and remanded into police custody for further investigation. Our team was looking for the remaining accused."

The investigating officer said that during preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the assailants had come to the office to beat a man who was working there.

Around two dozen assailants armed with swords allegedly attacked the BJP office of former corporator Mahadik in Ambernath late Saturday night, reportedly over an old enmity. Police said the assailants, with faces covered and armed with swords, stormed into Mahadik’s office and began vandalising furniture and other items. When Gupta tried to intervene, he was injured while attempting to defend himself.

They allegedly vandalised the office, smashing glass and chairs, before fleeing the scene. The identified accused include Ashutosh Karale alias Dakya (23), Rafique Shaikh (25), and others are still at large.

Police rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert, seized CCTV footage, and conducted a panchnama.An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita. According to police, the entire incident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing the assailants' intent to kill.
