In a tragic incident, a newlywed woman fell from a moving train in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri. As soon as the husband learnt of his wife's fall from the train, he somehow managed to pull the chain to stop the train and then walked approximately one kilometre in the darkness on foot to reach his wife, but by then it was too late.
The husband lifted his wife's body onto his shoulders and walked approximately half a kilometre on foot, but no one offered any help. Later, he somehow managed to get his wife to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Advocate Vikas Joshi, a resident of Gwalior, had married Shivani Sharma from Orai, Jalaun on 16th April 2025. Shivani was an LLB student and had recently gone to Orai with her husband to sit her examinations. After the exams, both returned to Gwalior on Tuesday and boarded a train to return to Indore. Vikas explained that he practises law in Indore and currently resides there. Both were travelling to Indore by train on Tuesday night.
According to husband Vikas, when the train departed from Shivpuri Railway Station at around 9 o'clock at night and had travelled some distance ahead, Shivani suddenly began feeling nauseous and went near the door of their coach. He went to fetch water whilst Shivani stood at the gate being sick. However, when he returned with water, a young man standing at the gate informed him that Shivani had fallen from the train due to slipping. Vikas immediately pulled the chain to stop the train and then himself reached Shivani, who was lying on the track approximately one kilometre away in the darkness.
Husband Vikas stated that even after reporting the incident, the GRP (Government Railway Police) provided him no assistance and he continued searching for his wife in the darkness with the help of a torch. After finding his wife, he himself carried her in his arms and walked half a kilometre on foot. Later, the GRP personnel arrived and began discussing rules and regulations, asking him to sign paperwork for the entire matter, whereas at that time his wife needed medical treatment. After this, with great difficulty he found a car driver and only then could he reach the hospital, where doctors declared Shivani dead.
