NIFT Daman's three-day craft bazaar at Jampore Beach is a significant step towards promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Vocal for Local" initiative, fostering self-reliance and providing opportunities for artisans and women empowerment. Former Union Minister for Textiles and Railways Darshana Jardosh emphasized this during the inauguration, highlighting the event's role in supporting Indian traditional handicrafts. She hailed Union Territory Administration's effort in establishing a permanent campus for NIFT at Daman. The fair showcases a wide range of handmade crafts from across the country, featuring 50 artisans from 10 states displaying products like Bandhani, Patola, and beaded jewelry. The event also includes cultural performances, live craft demonstrations, and an artisan awareness workshop. Campus Director Dr. Sandeep Sachan, Director of higher and technical education Shivam Teotia were present during the program.
The three day craft bazaar is organised at Jampore Beach, near the Lighthouse and will continue till Saturday. The craft bazaar marks a significant milestone for NIFT Daman, as it takes to the public for the first time, promoting India's rich cultural heritage and artisan community.
