At the film's trailer launch, Yami Gautam was asked about being often called a "nationalist" because of the kind of films she has chosen in recent years. What does she have to say about this? The actress laughed and dismissed the label.
Rejecting the Nationalist Tag
When asked about being labeled a nationalist, Yami said, "It's a label, I don't even know. If it is, it's people's job to say something." She added, "If it's not this, then it's another label, then another, then another. There was something else before. There was an underrated label before that. It keeps changing. I don't know all that."
Yami Gautam spoke about her character.
Yami Gautam explained that the film "Haq" wasn't just a courtroom drama for her. "This topic has been a public topic. I always wonder what kind of strength and courage a woman like Shazia must have needed. If I get the opportunity to tell the stories of such women, I will definitely do so."
The film will be released on this date.
"Haq," directed by Suparn Verma, is scheduled to release on November 7, 2025. The film reportedly explores the debates surrounding personal law, gender equality, and justice that arose during the Shah Bano case.
