The thrill of IPL 2025 will start once again with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday. Due to tension between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed IPL 2025 for a week, but after the announcement of the ceasefire, the board released the revised schedule.

17 matches remaining in IPL 2025
Now 17 matches will be played in IPL 2025, out of which 13 are group stage and four playoff matches. The IPL 2025 season started on 22 March with a match between defending champions KKR and RCB at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The IPL 2025 season was in its last phase. A total of 58 matches have been played so far this season, including the match canceled on Thursday between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. However, the BCCI has decided to reschedule this match between Delhi and Punjab.
Gujarat is on top
Talking about the points table, the Gujarat Titans team was at the top of the points table till the IPL 2025 season was postponed. Gujarat is in first position with 16 points, with eight wins and three losses in 11 matches. RCB is in second position with the same number of points as Gujarat in the same number of matches. Punjab is in the third position, while Mumbai Indians are in the fourth position. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals are out of the playoff race, while Delhi Capitals, KKR, and Lucknow Super Giants still have hopes left. Let's know the equation of the seven teams involved in the playoff race...
Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans is very close to the playoffs and needs to win just one match out of the remaining three matches to ensure a place in the playoffs. If the team manages to win two matches, it can secure its place in the top two in the table. This will give it two chances to reach the final.
RCB
RCB is also a strong contender to reach the last four, and it still has three matches left. If RCB wins even one match out of three, it will secure a place for the playoffs. By winning all three matches, the RCB team can finish in the top two.
Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings are close to making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Punjab has three matches left, and if it manages to win all three matches, it will have 21 points and can also secure a place in the top two. At the same time, winning two matches will also take it to the playoffs. But if Punjab can register one win out of three, then it will have to depend on the net run rate as well as the results of other teams.
Mumbai Indians
Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians will have to win both their league matches to reach the playoffs. With this, they will be able to get 18 points and qualify for the playoffs. But if it loses even one of the two matches, then it will have to fall into the trap of ifs and buts and will have to depend on the results of other teams.
Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals currently has 13 points from 11 matches and will have to win at least two out of three matches to keep the playoff hopes alive. However, the road ahead will not be easy for them as Delhi now has matches with teams like Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings who are in a good position in the points table. Delhi's match with Mumbai will be very important.
KKR
For defending champions KKR, the road to the playoffs has become difficult after the defeat against Chennai Super Kings. KKR will now have to win both the next matches so that it will be able to get 15 points. However, it will have to depend on the results of other teams and also improve its net run rate.

Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow's situation is similar to that of KKR. They will have to win all three of their matches to get 16 points. Lucknow will still have to depend on the results of other teams and strengthen their net run rate to stay in the playoff race.
