Actors Shagun Sharma and Aman Gandhi, who play siblings on the television drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, are a real-life couple beyond the screen. In an interview with Hauterfly, Shagun candidly spoke about how both she and Aman felt while portraying brother and sister in the StarPlus reboot of the iconic show.
Confirming their relationship, Shagun mentioned that she and Aman had already been dating before the series began. Aman, in an earlier podcast, had also disclosed that the two had been together for over a year. Shagun further shared that when she was offered a role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, Aman had already been cast as Ritik Virani. Before accepting the offer, she discussed the idea with him to ensure he was comfortable with them being cast as siblings on screen.
Initially, the couple chose to keep their romance private, and no one on set was aware of their relationship. However, after two months of filming, they decided to share the news with the rest of the team. Recently, Shagun appeared on Aman's podcast, Set Pe Charcha, where she expressed her gratitude to him for encouraging her to take up the role. She explained that both Aman and her sister were certain it was the right opportunity for her, and their confidence gave her the final push.
Discussing their on-screen dynamic, Shagun explained that playing his sister did not feel awkward, as their characters don’t share many emotionally intense or affectionate scenes. What she enjoys most about working together is the chance to have lunch with him, spend time on set, and strengthen their friendship.
"We don’t have scenes where we highlight the relationship so much. What I like is that we get to have lunch together and spend more time together. The friendship between us has gotten stronger.." she said.
The series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, which premiered on 29 July 2025 on StarPlus and streams on JioHotstar, serves as both a sequel and reboot of the original hit. The show stars Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprising their iconic roles, with Rohit Suchanti, Tanisha Mehta, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi leading the next generation.
