Starting October 13, 2025, Thailand will make it mandatory for foreign workers and their employers to use a new online platform, ‘ e-Work Permit’, for work permit applications and foreign worker registrations.
The new digital system is part of the government’s effort to streamline and modernize the work permit process. It aims to reduce paperwork, allow real-time tracking, and speed up approvals for both employers and foreign employees.
According to the announcement, as reported by Fragomen, while online filing will be compulsory, authorities may still accept manual submissions in limited cases during the transition period. However, this has not been confirmed.
Officials have advised employers and applicants to register on the e-Work Permit platform on October 13, and ensure that company directors or authorized persons verify their identity on the ThaiID mobile app, a required step before using the system.
During the initial rollout, some processing delays may occur as the system becomes operational. Details on revised procedures, processing times, and approval methods are yet to be clarified.
Authorities are expected to release additional information once the system is fully launched.
