Indian Premier League 2025 is in full swing, and there have been plenty of thrillers already, which have kept the fans engaged. The tournament has just ticked off 34 matches, and there is still a long way to go in deciding which teams will make it to the top four.
While there has been plenty of love for players who have performed well for their respective teams, it is also worth noting that IPL is a competitive league, and fans are too attached to their teams. So there will be criticism as well as some hate for players who have not been able to do well. In this article, we look at three players who are getting hate in IPL 2025.
Here are the three players who are getting hate in IPL 2025: 3. Ravichandran Ashwin Ravi-Ashwin. (Photo Source: X)'s return to the Chennai Super Kings came as a piece of good news for the fans, and the local boy was welcomed with open arms by the Chennai Super Kings fans. He started his IPL journey with this team, and Ashwin always proudly speaks about how privileged he is to represent them. However, the performance has not been up to the mark from Chennai Super Kings as they are languishing in the bottom half of the table.
Ashwin has not been able to perform well so far this season, picking up five wickets in six matches at an economy of close to 10. The batters in the powerplay overs have also taken him down, and even when he was promoted up the order against KKR, he could not contribute with his batting. Ashwin was dropped after six games against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Given his performance, Ashwin has been getting a lot of hate in IPL 2025. Fans have pointed out his hefty price tag of 10 crores, and also, a few videos from his channel went viral on social media, which caused a lot of people to turn against Ashwin. Not only fans, but even some of the press attending Fleming's post-match press conference were seen asking him about Ashwin's YouTube channel. He has been getting a lot of criticism from past cricketers who want him dropped from the squad.
2. Riyan Paragwas one of the retained players from the Rajasthan Royals side, and he had an extremely good season last year for them and was the leading run scorer of his team. He also made his debut for India last year and has a lot of expectations from fans to do well. However, the season for both Parag and the Royals has not panned out the way they wanted it to. He captained the side for the initial three matches, and after the loss in the first two games, a lot of his decisions as a captain came under criticism.
Parag has not been having a good time with the bat, scoring just 173 runs in seven matches and not a single half century, with the highest score being 43*. Given his lack of performance, he has been getting some hate in this edition. He has also been sloppy in the field, dropping the catch of Kohli in the game against RCB, which proved to be costly. Parag was also sent in for the super over against Delhi, and many fans and some commentators also questioned how he was sent ahead of Nitish Rana.
1. Rohit Sharmais one of the biggest stars and has been the mainstay of the Mumbai Indians over the years. A lot of talking points and division from fans came last season when Rohit was removed from captaincy and Hardik was appointed. This shift in captaincy did not go smoothly as a lot of Mumbai fans went against Hardik, and he was booed in most places. However, things have settled down this year, and although Mumbai has gotten off to a slow start, the fans have started criticising Rohit Sharma for his lack of performance.
Rohit has had a slump in his batting form with a highest score of just 25 after seven matches. He has been an impact sub in most games and has not been involved much in the decision-making on the field. The numbers for Rohit this season have been very poor for a player of his calibre, and fans have been sending a lot of hate this season towards him. He has also come under criticism from many former players and commentators.
