Second-Hand Car Buying Tips: It's crucial to perform some essential checks before buying a used car. Otherwise, you could face serious problems later. So, keep these things in mind.
Second-Hand Car Buying Tips: In today's times, cars are no longer just a hobby but a necessity in every household. However, the price of a new car is so high that not everyone can afford one immediately. Consequently, many people decide to buy a second-hand car, an option they are increasingly exploring these days.
While it's important to conduct thorough research before buying a second-hand car, most people check the engine, mileage, or accident history. However, some overlook important documents, which can lead to problems later. Let's explore these three essential things. Buying a used car without checking them can be a mistake.
First, be sure to check the number plate.
It's important to know the history of a used car, as vehicles used in crime are often sold. Buying such a car could land the new owner in legal trouble. Therefore, it's crucial to check the vehicle's registration number online.
To do this, you can enter the vehicle's registration number on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network website. This will reveal whether there are any cases or complaints filed against the vehicle. If you find information about any disputes or cases, immediately refuse to purchase the vehicle.
Be sure to check the challan details
Old vehicles often have outstanding traffic challans, and the new buyer unknowingly assumes this burden. Keep in mind: If the vehicle is transferred to your name, you will be required to pay all outstanding challans. Therefore, before purchasing, go to the Ministry of Transport's e-challan website and check with the vehicle number. It will clearly show whether there are any pending challans on the vehicle. It's best to get all outstanding challans cleared from the previous owner beforehand to avoid any further problems.
Don't forget to check the RC and NOC
Be sure to check the Registration Certificate (RC) and No Objection Certificate (NOC) before buying a used car. The RC will provide you with information about the vehicle's owner and loan status. If the car is financed by a bank, the bank's name is written on the RC. In such a case, it's important to obtain a NOC from the vehicle owner.
This proves that all installments have been paid. If you purchase a vehicle with outstanding loan installments, the responsibility for payment will fall on you later. Therefore, don't rush and finalize the deal only after checking all documents.
