All 20 Premier League teams' predictions for 2025/26 season as Alan Shearer tells clubs their fate

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has given his predictions for the upcoming season, suggesting there may not be much change at either end of the table.

Liverpool's dominance from the off left little room for a title race last season, though the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City will look to make a closer contest of it this time around.

The Reds' significant spending spree included the British-record signing of Florian Wirtz as they look to secure back-to-back titles. And the potential addition of Alexander Isak leads Shearer to favour Arne Slot's chances of defending the title.

Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland have each returned to the top flight, hoping to break the recent pattern of promoted teams being relegated back to the second tier at the first time of asking. However, Shearer predicts all three will only enjoy a one-season stay before going back down to the Championship.

This would mark the third consecutive year the three promoted teams fail to maintain their top-flight status. At the other end of the spectrum, Arsenal are predicted to finish second for the fourth consecutive year, a forecast that is unlikely to sit well with Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have made significant investments this summer, including the acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres as their new No. 9. But they may still fall short of the coveted title, increasing the pressure on Arteta as the club looks to end a title drought of more than two decades.

Manchester City had a disappointing run last season and are facing their first year without Kevin De Bruyne in a decade. Despite bolstering their squad, Shearer does not foresee Pep Guardiola and his team reclaiming their crown, instead placing them third in the pecking order.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are coming off their worst season in the Premier League era and have bolstered their attacking line-up under Ruben Amorim in a bid to turn fortunes around. However, Shearer believes that despite these efforts, they will fall short of securing a Champions League spot.

Instead, he predicts Chelsea, who have enjoyed a very busy summer transfer window, and his beloved Newcastle will both finish above the Red Devils. The success of Newcastle's season could depend on whether Isak stays, as well as if they manage to secure a top-tier replacement.

Nottingham Forest, last year's dark horse, will now have to juggle domestic duties with Europa League commitments. This new challenge is something Shearer believes they can handle, predicting another top-half finish for Nuno Espirito Santo & Co.

Tottenham have ushered in a new era by parting ways with Ange Postecoglou despite his Europa League triumph. And Shearer has projected the north Londoners will enjoy a resurgence by finishing eighth in Thomas Frank's first season at the helm.

Aston Villa have reaped the benefits of Unai Emery's leadership but are touted to slip to seventh due to the fierce competition at the top. Brentford, now under Keith Andrews' management, are tipped to narrowly escape relegation, finishing just above the bottom three in 17th.

Despite having Graham Potter at the helm for his first full season, West Ham are expected to face a challenging year. For clubs like Everton and Crystal Palace, it's another season of comfortable mid-table football.

The Eagles will also be playing in Europe, although perhaps not in the competition they had hoped for due to a conflict of interest over club ownership. Fulham, Wolves and Bournemouth are expected to stay safe, meanwhile, as Brighton battle to finish among the top half.
